Solar Power – make it work for You!

Solar Power is here now, it does work, and it will work for you.

How do I know this?  I know this because I run my home on Solar Power.

I am living in Australia, Western Australia, a bit east of the beautiful city of Perth to be exact. We are living on a small farmlett, about 9.5 acres (38,500 Sq.Meters) of sloping land facing to the North-West. When we moved here several years ago, the local power company was going to charge us a massive amount of money just to connect what was basically an arm's length from their power line to our property (since then, they have also raised their power charges by 2-3 times!).

Because of that, we decided that we would go totally solar.  We now power our house entirely from the Sun, the only 'imported' power sources are gas for the cooking stove and some wood for heating. Our lighting, refrigerator, washing machine, kitchen utensils, radio, computers and internet connection are all driven by Solar Power.

In the process, I have learnt a lot (and made a few mistakes), and I am willing to pass on this information to help others.  I have found that there is some very good information available, but there is even more bad information from people wanting to either make quick money, or at times, even to hurt other people (Solar Power causes a LOT of problems for Fire Fighters!) – which is NOT good.
